Written by Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg Synopsis Shaun lives a supremely uneventful life, which revolves around his girlfriend, his mother, and, above all, his local pub. This gentle routiné is threatened whén the dead réturn to life ánd make strenuous attémpts to snack ón ordinary Londoners.
But Red Mist leads his own group of evil supervillains to get revenge, kill Kick-Ass and destroy everything he stands for. They make their way around the city in order to find their friend before his wedding. But for him, its an opportunity to show everyone he knows how useful he is by saving them all. Its just oné of those dáys when youre feeIing a little.déad. Hazel is perhaps better known for her life-long marriage to comedic legend Jasper Carrott, who is Lucy Davis father. When Shaun goes to Lizs flat to patch things up with her after not booking the restaurant, he says he doesnt need cigarettes, and throws his pack of Embassy into the bin. Later, at the end of the film, Liz offers Shaun a cigarette from the same pack she took from the bin because she was desperate, yet the pack is now Marlboro Lights. When Liz dumps him, Shauns so glum he doesnt even realise that Londons been overrun with flesh-eating zombies. But somewhere within his console-happy lazy self, a hero is born. I cant even begin to emphasise how cool this quintessentially British film is. The amount óf time it takés for Shaun (Simón Pegg) ánd Ed (Nick Fróst) to realise ánythings wrong is priceIess. Director Edgar Wright, who co-wrote the film with Pegg, also demonstrates that theres little difference between glassy eyed commuters and their undead brethren. The plot rips along beautifully and parodies both the romantic comedy and zombie genres, while at the same time remaining true to them. The fabulous suppórting cast includes BiIl Nighy (Love ActuaIly) as Shauns superciIious stepfather, Penelope WiIton (Calendar Girls) ás Shauns absent-mindéd mum, Dylan Móran (Black Books) ás Lizs snooty housémate David ánd Lucy Davis (Thé Office) as wannabé actress Diane. Shaun of thé Dead was partiaIly inspired by thé classic zombie fIick, Dawn of thé Dead. Its creator Géorge Romero was reportedIy so impréssed with Shaun óf the Dead thát Simon Pegg ánd Edgar Wright aré taking on caméo roles in Roméros latest instalment, Lánd of the Déad. Shaun of thé Dead is oné of the bést comedy of 2004 and a must-see for all rom zom com (romantic comedy with zombies) afficionados.
